Romy Cuisine Wins: True Taste of Wales - GOLD AWARD
WELSH ingredients with a
little French `je ne sais quoi'
are the winning combination that is
Romy Cuisine, French Flavour in
Wales.
The Hay-on-Wye company's pate
terrine selection prompted an
ecstatic response from the True
Taste judges, with some of their
comments stretching as far as "...I've died and gone to heaven."
The couple's move to Wales
followed several holidays and
cookery demonstrations in Wales.
Their range of coarse pate's are
95% meat with no artificial
additives, instead sterilised jars are
used to give them a long shelf life.
All the ingredients are produced in Wales - much of it from local farms
- with the French know-how of chef
Guy Simon and his wife Romy, who
set up business in Wales a year
ago following 26 years in catering
in their native France.
As well as pates and terrines, Romy
Cuisine produce air-dried cured
ham and mouth-watering ready to
eat dishes such as Welsh Wild
Rabbit with Armagnac Sauce,
Welsh Lamb Stew, Welsh Black
Beef Stew, Cassoulet Leg of Duck
with Tomatoes and Beans, and
Pork Casserole with Lentils.
Romy Cuisine's dishes are sold through farmer's markets, local delicatessens as well as in
Cheltenham and Oxford, also through the Welsh speciality produce shop in Brecon, Cegin Cymru. They can also be found in such prestigious outlets as Fortnum
and Mason and Harrods in London.
Romy says. "This True Taste Gold award is very important to give identity to our product. It will help
us to grow our business. More people will get to know about us and see that this is not a French product but wholly Welsh."
